My First Art Festival: Sandy Springs

After many weeks of planning, preparing, and double-checking every detail, I felt ready for my very first art festival — the Sandy Springs Art Festival. I knew there would likely be a surprise or two (there always is with live events!), but overall, I was feeling excited and optimistic.

Surprise number one happened pretty quickly — during setup.
As we were putting up the tent in front of all the other vendors, we had a rookie moment combined with a little bad luck. I had heard plenty of warnings about the wind and was confident we were prepared — after all, we brought more weight to hold down the tent than was even recommended.
But here's the catch: it's all about when you add the weight.

After attaching the very first wall, a sudden gust of wind seemed to target only our tent. It lifted straight into the air, flipped over, and nearly took off like a kite!
Thankfully, we were able to grab it just in time before another gust could carry it away for good.
A few kind folks from nearby booths helped us get everything reset, and from there, the setup went smoothly. But — it was definitely a humbling (and slightly embarrassing) start!

First Image Purchased!

Once the festival officially kicked off, things started out very slow. I won't lie — I was a little nervous. I had prepared myself mentally (and through watching lots of YouTube videos) for the possibility of not selling anything at all.
But, as the afternoon rolled around and the crowds arrived, something amazing happened: people started stopping, looking closely, asking questions — and buying.

There’s no feeling like someone choosing your work to take home.
The honor and privilege of knowing one of my images will hang on someone’s wall — it's hard to even put into words. It means absolutely everything to me.

The weekend turned into a big success — filled with meaningful conversations, connections with fellow artists, and lots of appreciation and love for the art. I am incredibly grateful for everyone who stopped by, for the support from old friends and new customers alike, and for the experience overall.

Next stop: Roswell in two weeks!
We can't wait to do it all again and hope to see some familiar faces there.

A huge heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who helped make the Sandy Springs Art Festival so special. Your support fuels my passion and keeps me chasing these creative dreams.
